Crossing fingers in Server 2008


Be careful when shutting down Windows Server 2008. For some reason, Microsoft took out the feedback that you used to receive with previous versions of Windows Server that you’re Restarting vs. Shutting Down.

Both screenshots illustrate what you see after electing to Restart (not shutdown) the server.

First, Windows Server 2003:

Clearly, we’re restarting here.

And, Windows Server 2008.

Just awful. No advantage at all to removing that feedback. Be careful!
